Our client was a passenger in her sister's TransAm in Oklahoma City. The sister, who worked for an insurance company and was pregnant, was taking our client home. All of a sudden, a vehicle that was coming towards them went out of control and hit the TransAm head-on. The seat belt that was supposed to hold our client in the car, broke. She was ejected and thrown out of the car. In the process, her head hit the roof of the car and partially scalped her. She sustained numerous broken bones, cuts and head trauma. After her release from the hospital, she attempted to settle the case with the other vehicle's insurance company (a mistake on her behalf). They offered to only pay her hospital bills and some for her lost wages. She was referred to the Scott Ray Law Firm by her treating doctor. The insurance company insured the other vehicle and her sister's vehicle. It was the same insurance company that employed her sister. Apparently that didn't deter the insurance company from trying to get out of having to pay just compensation for our client's injuries. After she had finished treatment but before she had recovered, the insurance adjuster was saying that she was "ready for the Olympics". Hardly! She still walked with a limp and could only walk a few hundred yards before having to rest. She still couldn't work. She had nightmares about the accident. She had constant flashbacks to when she heard the ambulance attendant tell the ambulance driver to hurry because he didn't think she was going to live. By the time the case was finished, the insurance company had paid its policy limits on both vehicles.
